Descrizione

The fourth and final transnational event of the OLYMPICEU project represented the concluding operational phase of the initiative and focused on strengthening trust between citizens and local authorities through structured dialogue, participatory engagement and improved communication practices.

Building upon the results achieved during the previous project phases, the event translated the lessons learned from civic participation, social inclusion and gender equality into practical approaches aimed at reinforcing transparency, accountability and responsiveness within local governance processes.

The activities were implemented across three municipalities in Calabria and provided citizens, institutions and local stakeholders with opportunities to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges and identify concrete solutions for improving relationships between communities and public authorities.

Objectives of the Event

The event was designed to:

  • Strengthen trust between citizens and local authorities;
  • Improve communication and dialogue between communities and institutions;
  • Promote transparency and accountability in local governance;
  • Encourage active participation in democratic processes;
  • Consolidate the results achieved during the previous phases of OLYMPICEU;
  • Support more inclusive and participatory governance models.

Activities Implemented

The programme combined institutional sessions, thematic meetings, participatory workshops and community-based activities.

Throughout the event, participants explored the concept of trust in democratic life and examined how communication, transparency and citizen engagement can contribute to stronger and more effective local governance.

Particular attention was devoted to identifying communication gaps between citizens and institutions and to discussing practical approaches capable of improving cooperation, mutual understanding and civic participation.

The activities also encouraged direct interaction between citizens, local stakeholders and public representatives, creating opportunities for constructive dialogue and collaborative reflection on the future development of local communities.

Contribution to the OLYMPICEU Project

As the final transnational event of the project, the Calabria phase represented the culmination of the OLYMPICEU journey.

The activities consolidated the results generated throughout the project and contributed to strengthening participatory governance approaches based on inclusion, dialogue and mutual trust.

The event confirmed the importance of active citizenship and demonstrated how local communities and public institutions can work together to promote more transparent, inclusive and democratic decision-making processes.

The experience also reinforced cooperation between Greek and Italian partners and highlighted the value of European collaboration in addressing common social and democratic challenges.
